The photo was taken on Halloween, I traveled to Salem to see the famous town. There were thousands of people in all kinds of weired costumes. It was very crowded, but luckily I found a good place to sit down for a while behind the bell at town center.

The view is from Tang Hall, MIT (where I stayed when the photo was taken). Across the river is Boston University. Although with extremely poor network and leaking aircon seal, I feel I had the best room in all MIT dorms, as I can see right in front of my window the the sunrise with glowing clouds in the morning, and sunsets with golden rivers flowing in the evening. Nothing can be better for a photographer. Sometimes light is just too beautiful to miss, yet I cannot fully capture the beauty of the golden hour.

Photo taken near Hayden library @ MIT. Love the color of sunset and the view of river, my favorite place. Sometimes I would sit in the library near windows and watch the world outside, doing nothing but looking at the river glimmering with the color of sunshine and sky. Sunset is also a beautiful moment when the golden rays penetrate leaves and window, casting a warm and comfortable tone on the shelves full of books. Sadly my scanner doesn't have the density range to capture all on the slide film

The photo was taken by Singapore river, it was cloudy that day, and wind breezed continuously to bring the fresh scent before the rain. As always, there were quite a number of people along the river bank, mostly tourists; and there was alone this boy, sitting on the stone block, feeding and playing with pigeons all around him.

Sunset on 179

When I was riding on Bus 179 to have supper, the sun cast its golden rays through trees and clouds. I always find it's the prettiest time towards the end of day.

乌敏岛

乌敏岛一日游,具体时间记不清了


去乌敏岛要坐船，还是这种小木船，有点像打渔的船改来的，行在海上，四面透风，一个小浪船就能起很高，挺有意思的。


去的时候天就不好，下午果然疾风骤雨了。椰子树（貌似）被吹得像扯开的旗。在这种天气下，岛上的果树应该会掉下来不少芒果椰子吧


岛上老房子很多，很多都废置了，这个是苔痕上阶绿。


庙也很多，不过新加坡哪儿庙都多，烟气缭绕的。

Marina Barrage (1)

The Marina Barrage, wiki is a dam in Singapore built across the Marina Channel between the reclaimed lands of Marina East and Marina South. It was officially opened on 1 November 2008.
marina barrage is the largest reservoir in Singapore, it retains rainfall to dilute sea water inside the barrage in order to convert the water to fresh water. The operating principle is simple but I think it's a brilliant idea. My friend who is a civil engineer says it is one of the largest project in Singapore.
Beside the dam, Singapore government built a large complex for recreational and educational use. There are large roof top playground covered with lane, fountains, sculptures and a small yet wonderful exhibition. I enjoyed my time staying there bathing fresh wind and shower from the sea.

One thing to notice...you can never be too careful at Marina Barrage when changing lens, I found my view finder/mirror/sensor full of dusts after the trip.

Piano Ensmeble of NTU

I was asked to help my friend to take a few shots for Piano Ensemble in NTU. We decided to take photos in Nanyang Auditorium. I chose to use 10-20, 30 and 85 with a 420 flash. 
I took the photos in about 1 hour, then processed them briefly. There were a few things I feel quite challenging; I found it difficult to include both the player and piano in the frame, while at the same time show the face of the player. I guess it's easiest to show the side face of a player, but it's certainly not ideal if everyone shows only side face...
Another problem is how to pose 30 people, one by one, with different gestures; and you have to make the balance so that there is a spontaneous feel and the gestures don't look too rigid. Well, sometimes you have to capture the movements of players, and I really hoped I have a camera with better high ISO performance.
In the end, I found I used 10-20 most often, 30 sometimes to shoot half body, and 85 only a few times to take head shoulder shots. I used RAW for the white balance is much easier to adjust. Here are a few shots from the shooting
